The Wiltshire County Cricket League (UK)

The Wiltshire County Cricket League (WCCL) is the premier cricket league for clubs in the county of Wiltshire, England. It is a feeder league for the West of England Premier League (WEPL). As of 2023, the league has nine divisions of ten teams, who play 45-over matches on Saturdays. The winner of Division One is promoted into the WEPL. The league was formed in the early 1980s and covers most of Wiltshire and Swindon (except for the Salisbury area, where teams play in Hampshire leagues), as well as including clubs which are just over the border into Somerset, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. Clubs may field more than one team.

League Structure

The WCCL is divided into nine divisions, with the top division being Division One. The bottom division is Division Nine. Teams are promoted and relegated between divisions at the end of each season.

Teams

There are currently 90 teams competing in the WCCL, representing 52 different clubs. The most successful team in the league’s history is Swindon Cricket Club, who have won Division One on 11 occasions.

Season

The WCCL season runs from April to September. Each team plays 18 matches, with nine home matches and nine away matches.

Cup Competitions

The WCCL also organizes a number of cup competitions, including the Wiltshire Senior Cup, the Wiltshire Junior Cup and the Wiltshire Twenty20 Cup.
